About Kim MacPhee-Critz & Healing Heartwork

The stuff that matters

I have used art to calm and process thoughts and emotions since I was three years old. I have felt the heaviness of deep grief and the rattling transformation that trauma creates within your soul. I have also felt pure joy and complete calm. I feel blessed to know all of these as I know they have formed me into who I am now.

Until this year (20223) I have not created art to sell, nor have I really shared my art with the world, I created just to feel the process of getting lost in the flow of art materials. Color, line, value, shape, texture and space. Using these elements to get out what I was holding in or to sort what I was struggling to process on paper. This has been my therapy.

Through creating Healing Heartwork, my mission is now to show others, artists and non-artists, a healthy way to process thoughts and find calm. I think with each new chapter of life we have a choice to redefine what our happiest life looks like, I am here to support you in taking action steps to make that happen.

The stuff that doesn’t really matter but I will tell you anyway

I am a graduate of Western Michigan University with a degree in Art Education. My masters degree is in The Art of Teaching.

I am a small town girl who grew up in Schoolcraft Michigan. I taught high school art, technology and graphic design for almost 10 years and then worked in the corporate world. First as an art director, then as corporate coach, directed corporate training and directed product development, In the early 2000’s I started my own graphic design business that I continue to enjoy designing for today. Just before covid hit in 2019, I started a small business I called “Wrapped in Gratitude,” In this space I facilitated workshops and sold inspiring items to support self-care and caring for others. In 2022, following Covid and losing my dad to brain Cancer, I was very clear it was time to close Wrapped in Gratitude and begin my new chapter supporting others through Healing Heartwork.

Ultimately life goes full circle and you look back and understand why each little step, each good chapter and bad was there for reason. It is how I know now that my purpose being on this earth is to help others find calm and clarity in their own lives.

“I always assumed making pasta from scratch was too advanced. But once I learned, I couldn’t stop. I don’t think I’ll ever go back to store-bought pasta.”
